Calculation of Circulating Load in a Classifier. The circulating loads generated in a typical ball mill cyclone circuit contain a small fraction of bypassed fines. Two steps are proposed to evaluate the ball mill size for operation in closed circuit with screens: 1. A power-based method is first utilised to determine the required ball mill power consumption to achieve the required product P80. This would give the required ball mill power in closed circuit with cyclones operating at 250% circulating load. 2.

The Bond ball mill grindability test is run in a laboratory until a circulating load of 250% is developed. It provides the Bond Ball Mill Work Index which expresses the resistance of material to ball milling. This happens after 7–10 grinding cycles, which shows that the procedure is a lengthy and complex one and is therefore susceptible to …
The original ball load in the mill was 6614 lb. (3000 kg.) and the load at the end of the 694 hr. was 6338 lb. (2874.8 kg.). During this time, 590 lb. (267.6 kg.) of balls less than 3 in. I too am not an expert in ball mill sizing but from what my general understanding goes, method to calculate Bond's Work Index (WI) takes into consideration a 250% circulating load and ball mill sizing is based on the WI. In other words a 250% circulating load is already factored while calculating the WI.
