I've got a MicroMill DSLS 3000. It has been giving me a "Servo Error" which indicates it is losing pulses. When I put a scope on the drive step lines on the paralell port I see a good 8us pulse in the negative direction.

Make sure you're downloading the correct xml as I believe there's quite a difference between xml's for the Taig 2000 and the Taig DSLS 3000 systems. I'm not at all familiar with the 2000 system but it is not the same controller setup at all as the 3000 and with the 2000, I think you need some sort of "pulse- adapter" to run the 2000 with Mach 3.
Setting up your new MicroMill system requires only a short time (usually 30 minutes to 1 hour) to get the machine up and running. The MicroMill system is shipped mostly pre-assembled except for a few machine components. The Z-axis column, the drive axis motors and spindle motor are all that must be assembled by the user.
